Year 6 Dodgeball Festival and Tournament

On Wednesday 23rd November, the Year 6 dodgeball teams travelled to Garons Tennis and Leisure Centre to take part in a multi-school dodgeball event. The day was split into two parts: one team attending the festival in the morning and the other team attending in the afternoon for a competitive tournament.

In the morning, the festival team had the opportunity to play a number of dodgeball games with a range of different schools. With seven games scheduled, the team worked tirelessly throughout every round, gaining valuable knowledge and experience and then implementing that into each game. The team managed to win four of five games. Once all the games were played we then had time to play some friendly games with a few of the schools. All the children attending really enjoyed the occasion and it was great to see so many schools enjoying the opportunity to play dodgeball.

In the afternoon, the teams arrived and were prepared for an exciting and tense afternoon of dodgeball. It started with the group stage with six schools to play. The team got off to a great start, winning the first and second match. Then the team had to work incredibly hard in the next four matches. In the third game, the team went 1-0 down but in the second round they managed to get the win. This went on to the final round to decide the winner, but they unfortunately lost this round. The next game also provided a challenge with the first round ending in a draw and the second in a loss; it came down to the final round and with the team working extremely hard, they managed to get a draw. The team then continued to play with great enthusiasm and confidence to win the next match. The last game decided if we would get a chance to go through to the semi-finals. The team put a lot of effort into this match, with it going to the third round to decide who would win. The team tried their best but once again were unfortunate in this match and just missed out on a place in the semi-finals.
