Year 5/6 Boys' Football

Members of the Year 5 and 6 boys' football team competed in the Jim Smith Memorial Cup on Monday. The team competed in a group against Rayleigh, Downhall, Oakfield, Wyburns and St Pierre. After a nervy opening few games with West Leigh benefitting from a slice of luck or two, the team turned on the heat against Oakfield, winning 5-1, before competing in a decisive match against St Pierre. The team needed to avoid defeat to qualify from the group. A great display of determination, teamwork and resilience saw the boys win 3-0! Overall, West Leigh won 3 and drew 2 of their games. They topped the group and have qualified for the next round of this cup. Well done to the team on a very successful afternoon!
