Southend Cross Country competition

On Wednesday 27th April, the children that qualified from the Southend Cross Country competition travelled to Garons Park to compete in the Essex Cross Country Finals. We had our year 4, 5, 6 Girls and year 5 boys teams qualify and a number of children competing individually in each year group. Each race had about 150 children from across the borough competing.

Every child ran amazingly with everyone finishing in the top 100. Both the Year 6 and Year 5 girls ran impressive races with the Year 6 team finishing in 4th place overall. The year 4 girls ran an incredible race to finish 1st and the Year 5 boys also managed to finish 1st as a team – both are now Essex Champions! Harry W in Year 5 powered away in the final 20m to take 1st place as an individual.

Everyone that took part should be incredibly proud of their achievements and showed great sportsmanship and support to each other and other competitors throughout the event.
