Careers Day 10th June 2022

Today the children took part in a careers day across the whole school. Over thirty volunteers from local businesses and the parent community came in to speak to the different classes about their career paths, what it is like to work in their career, the training they had to undertake, people who helped them along the way and much more. Parents and relatives came to speak about their careers as well as local businesses such as The Amanda Restell Academy of Dance and Earth Designs. They learned about a huge variety of careers, from the creative to the academic. We are hugely thankful to all of our volunteers, who gave up their time to come and deliver interesting and inspiring presentations.

Year 5 and 6 were visited by Danny Crates, gold-medal Paralympian and author, and took part in an assembly and question and answer session where they learned the importance of overcoming obstacles and setting daily goals. He spoke about his career so far and how his accident changed his life for the better, making him more determined and giving him the will to succeed and be the best.

The children also took part in various workshops throughout the day, with Year 3 learning practical skills in forensic science and Year 4 working on their presentation skills with a drama workshop. Year 6 took part in a virtual healthcare careers session, where they were able to speak to a number of different people working in the health industry about the nature of their jobs.
