Boys cricket Essex Finals

On Thursday this week, nine year 6 boys had qualified to play in the Boys Cricket Essex Finals competition at Billericay cricket club.

There were 15 schools in attendance. Our first game (with a slight variation to the rules and using wooden bats) was against James Oglethorpe school which unfortunately we lost 70-56. Our next game against Writtle school we won 67-48, we then went on to play St Johns which we also won 98-49.

We regrouped after lunch and were playing to win the shield trophy.

Our semifinal game against Dunmow St Mary’s we won 86-55, which put us into the final against St Nicolas school, with some excellent batting and fielding skills demonstrated by both teams we managed to win by 6 runs, 86-80.

A huge well done to all the boys today. We got to meet the captain of the Essex county cricket team Kelly Castle and much fun was had by all doing the Macarena with our great umpire!
