Essex Plate Competition
Following on from the success of the year 5 and 6 tennis team, earlier this year, four pupils from year 5 took part in the ‘Essex Tennis – Plate Competition’ at Garon Park, on Tuesday 25th June. Charlie and Olly again demonstrated some excellent tennis and match play skills. The boys were joined by Rae and Olivia (who bravely stepped in to replace the year 6 girls) who both played some great tennis – it was lovely to see their confidence grow and their skills improve throughout competition. All the children played extremely well, supported each other and showed great determination. The team finished in 4th position, just pipped to the post for 3rd place on a count back of points. Congratulations to all the players from West Leigh for their super tennis skills and great sportsmanship and thank you to the spectators for their support throughout the morning.
