Carol Singing at Leigh Station
Singers from West Leigh Junior School joined volunteers from the Southend Blind Welfare Organisation for a heart-warming session of carol singing at Leigh Station recently. Following the great success of last year’s event, we were delighted to be invited back to entertain the commuters for a second year. Sharing some of our music-making to generate some festive goodwill always feels really good so we were pleased to represent our school. The main aims were to have fun and to help raise lots of money. I am very pleased to report that this year’s total was over £600!
Thank you to our two teams of singers who showed great determination during a long stint of singing in a chilly location. Well done to our recorder players who played in between songs to give us a little rest! Our thanks must also go to Mrs Gentleman and Mrs Walker for supporting this event once again. Thank you also to our group of parents, grandparents and supporters. You all helped to raise the profile of this local charity as well as raising vital funds to support their work in the local area.
