Year 5/6 Girls Essex Finals
On Wednesday 22nd November, the Girls’ football team traveled to Melbourne Park in Chelmsford, to compete in the Essex County Schools FA Under-11s Girls’ 7-a-side Cup. The competition brought together the best teams from all over Essex, so the standard of competition was always going to be high. With 7 games to play, each game being 7 minutes one way, the girls played incredibly throughout the day. The girls also had a extra challenge on their hands with the strong wind blowing the ball around the pitch, which unfortunately for them in the first game Tanys Dell Primary managed to get the ball passed our defenders and across the goal, with the wind blowing it across the line. The girls remained confident and positive going into their upcoming games. The next 3 games were just as challenging, With the girls continuing to play a high standard of football, all 3 games ended 0-0. In the 5th game the girls managed to get the ball in the back of the net to win 1-0. The next game was another great game with lots of attacking and defensive play from both teams, with the game ending 2-2. Going into the last game, the girls put in stupendous effort, but were unfortunate for the game to end 0-1 defeat. The girls can be incredibly proud with their performance, superb sportsmanship and making it to the Girls Essex Finals for the first time for the school. The girls’ should feel very confident when approaching their upcoming league campaign.
