Hadleigh Country Park
On Friday the group headed deep into the woods to learn about survival. Using the materials in their surroundings, each group built their own den to protect them from the elements. Children were then allowed to decorate their den, with some even adding furniture and accessories! We were shown different methods for lighting fires and then collected firewood, creating a fire for each den. Every child was taught how to light a match safely and how to use a flint and steel to create sparks. Lunch was eaten around the fire and then the group were taught how to camouflage themselves within the woods. We played lots of games of hide and seek and then finished the afternoon with a trek back through the fields – looking out for the bull on the way! The children went home tired and smelling of bonfire but now with the skills to survive in the wilderness!
