Happy 90th Birthday to our Queen
West Leigh Infant and Junior school celebrated the Queen’s 90th Birthday on Friday by dancing the Charleston! All 870 pupils have been learning the Charleston, a famous dance from the decade that the Queen was born, in the weeks leading up to the celebration. On Friday, all the pupils went on to the playground and danced the Charleston together before singing Happy Birthday to the Queen and the National Anthem. It was a real celebration and very exciting for the children.
We also ran a competition for the children to design a birthday cake for the Queen. The entries were brilliant and it was very hard to pick a winning cake to be baked into life! The prize went to a year 4 child who worked with Mrs London and a team of helpers to bring the cake to life, which was then enjoyed by his class mates.
