Year 3 Oral Hygiene talk
Our Year 3 classes had a visit from a dental nurse today to learn a little bit more about dental health, how to look after their teeth and why it is so important to have good oral hygiene. Our visitor talked about how to keep our teeth and mouths healthy by brushing, flossing, using mouth wash and chewing sugar free gum as well as regular visits to the dentist. She showed the classes different types of tooth brush and they discussed which would be the best for a child’s mouth and what the others were for - ie dentures, braces. The children played a game where they had to guess how long 2 mins was as this is the amount of time you should brush your teeth for. The children also enjoyed listening to a story about how to be hygienic and avoid stomach bugs - most importantly washing our hands after using the toilet and not eating things they’d dropped on the floor. Each child go a mini copy of the book to take home and share with their parents and siblings.
